As for now, it’s pretty easy to find a stop at a coffee shop on the streets. But have you ever seen these hidden gems that are located in…apartments? Believe me, sometimes the coolest things are meant to be hidden in these unlikely places. That’s how we say “Expect the unexpected”. Here are the 5 coffee shops that are located in Saigon apartments that you have to check in.
- Loft Café:
My first impression about the café is, obviously, the huge clock as the main highlight of the coffee shop. Located in an apartment on Ly Tu Trong Street, Loft is like a comfort zone and a spot for relaxation after a long day at work, it’s also a very productive working space for those who do not favor sitting in the offices. Or, you can just sit and sip a cup of coffee with a book, totally classy!

You can find another Loft Cafe on Pasteur Street as well, and it’s also located in an apartment!
Located in an apartment in Dong Khoi, you’ll first walk through an art arcade then it will lead you to the stairs, where L’usine exists. Apart from a diverse menu with selections of snacks, desserts, food and drinks, L’usine is perfect for special gatherings, working and meeting with your colleagues. After having the drinks, you can also shop around in L’usine as it does offer goods from other indie brands. Even though the prices are a bit over average, but it’s worth for an investment of goods since most of them are very unique and you can never find them anywhere else than just L’usine itself.

- Banksy Studio:
When I first walked into Ton That Dam apartment to look for Banksy Studio, I was a bit biased of how old the apartment actually looks, and that the coffee shop might not look exquisite. But I was wrong; I was in awe with the setting of the shop as a whole. Basically, by just looking at it from the outside, you may wonder “This must be for those who are tough both on the outside and the inside”. It could be correct, but the shop’s decorations are not that intense, and with the soft lighting, it instantly sets you in the mood for relaxation at 3PM in the afternoon. The drinks are alright overall, but make sure to try their signature brownie, ask the waiters the microwave the brownie for you. Trust me; it’ll make a huge difference! After all, Banksy Studio is still a gem.

- Tea Maison:
This is a bit different than others; since its specialty is all about tea (they do serve other drinks as well). But since I discovered them in the same Dong Khoi Apartment alongside with L’usine, I thought to myself to give this a try. A lovely cupboard of tea cups and tea selections will be waiting for you to make your choices when you first walk in, you will get to select your favorite tea flavor and, a style of tea cup that you love best. What’s next? Just settle down and enjoy your cup of tea. The tea selection is very unique, I tried their Vanilla Chocolate Tea (apparently) and it was not too sweet as I thought it would be. Although the lighting can be distracting for it’s a bit dimmed, but still a very good place for hangouts and date nights.
